Interior

This freestanding, authentic 18th century shepherd's cottage of traditional dry-stone construction which is carefully furnished over the years, has preserved its distinctive character.

Ground floor: rustic-style kitchen with an ancient open hearth, fully equipped with cooking utensils, range cooker and oven, fridge and dish-washer - Salon with French doors opening onto the garden, furnished for dining or relaxing with CD/cassette player and radio. - Toilet with washbasin - Small laundry with washer/dryer and storage.

Upper floor: Master bedroon with double bed (160), ensuite bathroom with bath/shower, large double closet. French windows open out to a small balcony with a grapevine and a stone staircase down to the garden and... a great view to the village - Second salon/study with sofa-bed (140) - Bathroom with shower - Toilet - Bedroom with double bed (160).

Garden: There are teak steamer chairs, a sun-lounger, outdoor BBQ and table and chairs for dining outside under the vine-covered terrace.

Setting

Facing south, it is just 500 metres outside the unspoilt village of Lagnes and is a true haven of peace and quiet. During World War II, the cottage was used as a base by the local French Resistance group, known as the 'maquis du chat'.

Lagnes, situated 5 km from L'Isles sur le Sorgue and 20 km tot the east of Avignon, is still a true 'working village', which tourism has as yet largely passed by. There are no tourist souvenir shops but just the essentials, one restaurant, a good baker, a grocer, a chemist, a hairdresser and, of course, a café.

Ideally situated to explore the famous Luberon region with its medieval perched villages.
